At the centre of our Advent journey is Benjamin Britten’s wonderful A Ceremony of Carols for choir, soloists and harp. The work is a collection of twelve exquisite and varied movements, ranging from gentle lullaby to festive celebration, and from reverent reflection to fiery hellraiser. The texts (a mix of English, Latin and Middle English), each focus on different aspects of the birth of Christ.
