Spring concert: Awakening

Awakening – from quiet night to gathering light

Join the Pennine Singers for our spring concert!

Our theme is moving from rest to waking. We explore the transition from night to day, the shifting seasons from winter into spring, and the beauty of nature and the natural world around us.

The programme includes musical gems by Whitacre, Stanford, and Vaughan Williams. You’ll hear favourites such as Kate Rusby’s Underneath the Stars and Finzi’s uplifting My Spirit Sang all Day. We’ll raise a smile with brilliant arrangements of traditional songs such as Dashing Away with the Smoothing Iron and Early One Morning. And we’ll get your toes tapping and your thumbs clicking to classics such as Billy Joel’s For the Longest Day.

We finish our programme with the fabulous medieval canon Sumer is Icumen In, leaving behind the darkness of winter and acknowledging the move into lighter and warmer days of spring and the imminent arrival of summer.

When – Saturday 26th April, 4.30pm.

Where – Old Glossop Parish Church, SK13 7RU.

Tickets are £10 on the door (under 18s free) and light refreshments will be available in the interval.
